Meet The Team

Frank

Team Manager and Design Engineer

My role in the team was to manage our team and the entire project. I made sure that everyone is happy and motivated which ensures that the work is to a great standard. I was also an engineer which means he worked on the car design which included sketches, CAD, CAA, physical testing and manufacturing. As the team manager, I also worked on graphic design for the team and made sure that our team brand was consistent and professional. I closely worked with all team members and set deadlines for certain tasks that we needed to track.

Ayman

Lead Engineer

My role in the team was to design cars using CAD software. I used mainly Autodesk Inventor as well as Autodesk Flow Design to test the car in a virtual wind tunnel. I researched fluid dynamics to give our team crucial information on how airflow works and we used this to make the car as aerodynamic and rapid as possible, testing the limits and how fast we can go. I, along with Frank, researched different ways to manufacture and test our car. I closely worked with Frank, Feranmi and Ojas to maximise performance and create the best car possible.

Ojas

Manufacturing and Design Engineer

My role in the team was to design the car from the sketches that we made to the final CAD model, which will then be analysed using advanced CFD software such as Autodesk Flow Design to help us optimise the performance of our car on the race track. I closely worked with Frank and Ayman to design the most aerodynamic and efficient car possible, this collaboration has been crucial in improving car design.

Feranmi

Software and Display Engineer

My role in the team was to drive the digital innovation demands of our team. This entails ensuring that our website is professionally designed and that our Pit display uses innovative digital approaches in the best possible way. As part of my Role, I had developed interactive applications, including an Interactive Game and an AR App, for our pit display. In addition to this I had worked with the Engineers to produce high quality renders and videos which showcased the stunning and innovative engineering of our car. I also worked closely with Frank to showcase our team in a way that best represents our team's identity.

Mohammed

Sponsorship and Finance Manager

My role in the team was to drive the digital innovation demands of our team. This entails ensuring that our website is professionally designed and that our Pit display uses innovative digital approaches in the best possible way. As an engineer, I collaborated with Ayman on key elements of the car's design, including sketches, CAD, CAA, physical strength tests and manufacturing. I worked closely with Frank to showcase our team in a way that best represents our team's identity.

Tommy

Portfolio Manager

I managed all of our portfolios, making sure that everything was in line with the mark scheme and, ensuring everything was written as clearly and concisely as possible. I worked closely with Frank, Ojas and Ayman to develop our engineering portfolio, so that it was easy to read, but still contained all of the best terminology. Similarly, I worked with Mo to help portray our finances in the most reader friendly way possible, and with Feranmi to keep our online presence sleek and attractive

About F1 In Schools

The F1 in Schools challenge is open to all secondary schools, sixth form colleges and other organised youth groups. Teams of 3-6 are made from ages 11-19 and create miniature foam F1 cars using CAD/CAM software. The teams race their cars against each other on a 20m track with compressed air canisters powering the car. Teams are judged not only on car speed, but on their portfolios, marketing, verbal presentation, pit display and more.

As a result, we created social sustainability as no one became overwhelmed.

Ansys

Ansys are a crucial part of our testing phase as it gives clear data for CFD analysis. This allows us to try new ideas for free, until we narrow down to the best ideas which eventually become our prototypes, allowing us to be environmentally and economically sustainable.

Team Gannt

Working with SimScale has allowed us to test our car digitally, both in CFD and FEA, meaning that we maintained economic sustainability as we saved money and resources that wold otherwise be spent on physical testing.

Previous Sponsors

Bristol Street Motors

We are very glad to have Bristol Street Motors as a Platinum sponsor again as we knew the company well and knew they could provide us with great service and advice. Furthermore, we had developed good relationships with people at BSM and wanted the chance to represent them on the biggest stage, with them helping with our social sustainability through both hoping to promote STEM.

3DPRINTUK

Once again we have strong relationships with people at 3DPRINTUK, so we partnered with them as we knew they would ensure great quality and communication for the very specific products we desired. We also knew they have a strong view on the importance of environmental sustainability, something that’s important to our sustainability strategy.

Carter Bearings

From previous competitions the team knew the need for smooth, professional bearings, and the sponsorship from Carter Bearings provided us with just that. Working with Carter Bearings has allowed us to have high performance bearings and maintain economic sustainability.
